Director-Actor Sundar.C's latest horror-comedy 'Aranmanai 2' has emerged as one of the profitable films of the year despite getting mixed reviews from critics. The film has been accepted by family audience and children and it is still running in theaters across the Tamil Nadu state.

While working on 'Aranmanai 2' which is his home production, Sundar.C. had purchased the remake rights of Malayalam super hit film 'Vellimoonga' While it was expected that Sundar will direct this film, he has decided to hand over the direction responsibility to his former associate Venkat. Sundar is acting in the lead role reprising the role played by Biju Menon in the original. Poonam Bajwa who aceted as Sundar's pair in 'Aranmanai 2' has been cast as the female lead in this yet to be titled remake also. Sathish of 'Ethineechal' and 'Kaththi' fame is also acting in a prominent supporting role in this film. Kiran Rathod who made a comeback in Tamil with Sundar.C directed Vishal starrer 'Aambala' has been roped in for another supporting role.

The shooting of the film has started recently and it is taking place in Ambasamuthiram, Kallidaikuruchi and other southern districts of Tamil Nadu.
