Sun Group's 600 Crores plan for Tamil cinema revealed

The Sun Group headed by Kalanidhi Maaran is one of the top-rated media conglomerates in India. Apart from a bouquet of entertainment and news channels in all South Indian languages the company also has a strong presence in print, DTH, and digital media.
It has now been revealed that Sun is planning to invest rupees six hundred crores in the coming year to produce movies. Four hundred crores have been allotted to Sun Pictures for its big-budget movie production with top stars.
The group has also planned to invest rupees two hundred crores to produce director to television and OTT movies to be broadcast and streamed on Sun TV and Sun NXT. Already the production house has under production Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Annaathe', 'Thalapathy 65', Dhanush's 'D44' and 'Suriya 40'. Other projects in the pipeline are headlined by Vijay Sethupathi, Sivakarthikeyan, and other leading heroes and heroines.
At a time when Kollywood is in the doldrums the news that Sun Group is coming with such big money and plans is sure to be music to the years of not only the industry but to the fans as well.
