Actor Karthi was seen last year on screens in three movies - Dev, Kaithi and Thambi, and Kaithi directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj was the most successful among them, and became the actor's first movie to gross more than 100 crores at the box office worldwide.

Karthi had recently started shooting for the mega budget historical movie Ponniyin Selvan directed by Maniratnam, and the movie's shooting is happening in Thailand. It has been said that the actor will be seen playing the character Vandhiya Thevan, and will be paired with Trisha in the movie.

Before Ponniyin Selvan, Karthi had completed shooting for his next movie Sultan, which is directed by Remo director Bakkiyaraj Kannan, and marks the Tamil debut of Kannada actress Rashmika Mandanna. The latest update is that this movie produced by Dream Warrior pictures will be released this Summer.
