In 2021, Suma Kanakala founded the philanthropic organization 'Festival For Joy,' dedicated to community well-being since the auspicious occasion of Dasara. Notably, it supported ten women in the film industry facing pandemic-related challenges, providing livelihood opportunities and essential provisions in collaboration with NGO Prajwala.

As Festival For Joy (FFJ) marks its remarkable two-year anniversary, its commitment to purposeful festivals and positive impacts shines through. FFJ has empowered transgender individuals to establish businesses and supported the economic rehabilitation of sex trafficking survivors.

Ahead of Christmas and New Year, Suma Kanakala introduced an innovative initiative through FFJ, aiming to bring smiles to the lives of the underprivileged. Suma joyfully announced FFJ's collaboration with the North America Telugu Society and Telugu Film Journalists' Association (TFJA).

Excitingly, FFJ, in partnership with the North America Telugu Society (NATS), fulfills a long-standing dream by providing insurance facilities for journalists in need. NATS generously contributes 5 lakh to TFJA's insurance fund, exemplifying a strong commitment to social welfare.

The Telugu Film Journalists' Association, with 173 members, actively promotes and safeguards Telugu film journalism. Suma expressed gratitude to NATS organizers and personally thanked key figures for their support.

Suma's inspiration to help journalists and provide insurance facilities stems from learning about journalists' challenges through her friends in the association. Recognizing TFJA's efforts over the past three years, Suma emphasized her concern for family members and their well-being.

TFJA members extended gratitude to Suma and pledged to promote her cause for recognition. Suma expressed hope for increased funding to continue impactful work. Her unwavering commitment to inclusivity and non-discrimination based on caste, creed, religion, or gender is evident.

Suma highlighted the resonating spirit behind the slogan North America Telugu Sambaralu, emphasizing the celebration of Telugu culture on the continent. Her dedication to promoting harmony within NATS echoes in her commitment to creating a welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of background.
