Speaking to a portal, director Sukumar has revealed that he wanted to make a film on the Telangana Rebellion of 1946 after 'Rangasthalam'. "I had to keep the idea aside due to some reasons," the 'Arya' and 'Arya-2' maker says.
The Telangana Sayudha Poratam has inspired generations of writers, activists and intellectuals. Given its inherent potential for drama involving armed conflict, it would make for superb cinematic material. No star director in the last few decades has attempted to tell its story.
Sukumar's next is 'Pushpa' with Allu Arjun. "I have completed the screenplay. Character sketching and costume looks are in place already," the star director, who is one of the producers of Vaisshnav Tej's 'Uppena' and Nikhil Siddhartha's '18 Pages', reveals.
'Pushpa', which will have music by Devi Sri Prasad, will release in Hindi and all south Indian languages. Rashmika Mandanna is its female lead and there is a rumour that she will be seen as a forest officer in the movie. She is learning the Rayalaseema accent for the role.
