A film in the combination of director Sukumar and actor Vijay Deverakonda was announced last year. Produced by debutant Kedar Selagamsetty on Falcon Creations LLP banner, the film was supposed to go on floors by now, but it got delayed owing to the busy commitments of Sukumar and Vijay. Going by the latest buzz in tinsel town, Sukumar is planning to replace Vijay Deverakonda with Ram Charan as the protagonist of the film.
Of late, the Rangasthalam director is waiting to expand his market into other territories and is toying with the idea of replacing Vijay with Charan as the latter will have pan-World recognition after RRR. He is mulling over the fact that Vijay's market is confined to the Telugu states and if Liger tanks at the box office, his project would not attract the trade circles. A clear picture will emerge in the next two months.
Sukumar is currently directing Allu Arjun in period action entertainer Pushpa. Slated to release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, Pushpa also features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. Vijay has teamed up with Puri Jagannadh for Liger. The film's shooting has been called off due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Mumbai. Ram Charan will next be seen in Rajamouli's RRR and Chiranjeevi's Acharya.
