In a recent interview, singer Sukhwinder Singh rebutted the fact-based claims of Ram Gopal Varma by saying that it is not he but the latter, who composed the chartbuster number 'Jai Ho.' Varma has allegedly suggested that it is not AR Rahman but Sukhwinder Singh who composed the song, originally made for Subhash Ghai's film 'Yuvraaj.'

Singh clarified in his tweet, "AR Rahman has composed the song; I have only sung it. Ram Gopal Varma ji isn't a minor figure; perhaps he received misinformation." He then narrated the story behind the song: Rahman composed the song in his Mumbai studio, inspired by the lyrics penned by Gulzar. Subhash Ghai then expressed interest in it, but the song's lack of relevance to the film's plot led to its sidelining.

Singh stated that he persuaded Gulzar to grant him permission to perform the song in its current rendition. Rahman later played it for Danny Boyle, director of 'Slumdog Millionaire.' Singh stressed that he recorded it in half an hour. Interestingly, AR Rahman won an Oscar for his composition, "Jai Ho."
