'Thirupathi' starring Sudeep and Deepu by producer R.S.Gowda of 'Thavarige Baa Thangi' super hit film fame went on the floors at Kanteerava studio in Bangalore on Friday (25th November) morning. Upendra sounded the clap board for the maiden shot on Sudeep. 'Thirupathi' is different from all cop films. When God is silent, he is violent said director Shivamani. This is for the first time he is directing Sudeep and producing for R.S.Gowda. In Bangalore and Hubli the shooting will be held for 55 days. The protagonist Sudeep plays an ACP. He is a combination of seven top cops of Karnataka police. In a way he is the real Karnataka Police said Shivamani who is known for technical brilliance in Kannada cinema. We are touching some of the social issues that can get an answer from an ACP level police officer. I have consulted senior ACP of Karnataka police on the limits to which we can use in the film said Shivamani.
I am playing the full length cop for the first time. The cop in this film behaves naturally and he will not cross his limits like in earlier films. I am feeling thrilled with this uniform. For a small comedy scene in 'Nalla' I was in the inspector uniform. In this 'Thirupathi' there will be pukka commercial elements to attract the masses. He is a masses police officer said Sudeep. The screenplay and dialogues are different. Without the cop uniform I might have performed as a hero but wearing a cop uniform is more authentic added Sudeep.
Producer R.S.Gowda is happy because his earlier film with Sudeep 'Maharaja' brought him the investment back. Lord Venkateshwara at Thirupathi is at the seven hills. Our hero Thirupathi encounters seven villains in the film. Everything demanded by the film script prepared by director Shivamani in the last six months would be provided. We are making a lavish 'Thirupathi' said Gowda in his address. The film has also sentiments. Either Seetha or Bhanupriya would be roped in for mother's role. Rangayana plays a prominent role.
