Suchitra compares Jeyaraj-Fenix custody death to George Floyd and seeks justice

The custodial death of the father son duo Jeyaraj and Fenix in Tuticorin has caused a huge furore in the state of Tamil Nadu and many celebrities are joining in the condemnation of the police brutality. On Monday night Jeyaraj (60) and his son Fenix (30) reportedly kept their cellphone shop open beyond the stipulated government lockdown time and the cops in the subinspector cadre allegedly attacked Jeyaraj and when Fenix intervened both were taken to to Sathankulam station. Then the duo were reportedly tortured and both died on Wednesday. The family and the public conducted protests and refused to take the bodies but after the court assured of a fair trial they accepted.
Singer Suchitra has released a video in which she has compared the Jeyaraj-Fenix custodial death to the death of George Floyd in the US a black man who was also killed by policemen and the protests are still continuing even after three weeks. Suchi has urged her followers to share her video and has refused to accept the government's decision to suspend two cops and transfer a few others stating that will not be justice for those who lost their live and their familites.
Suchitra's video on Instagram has been viewed more than six lakh times and she is being lauded for her bold view on the issue.
