Success comes with a price

It is accepted that success always comes at a high cost.

Trisha is the most successful actress in the southern circuit these days. She had a double whammy with her Tamil Thirupachi being declared a hit. In Telugu, her Nuvvostannte Nenuoddantana is the rage of the times.

In the event, she is on cloud nine.

Young stars desperate for hits now want to cast her in their films. It is not just her sweet looks ("Nothing extraordinary, but she is beautiful like your best friend", as one actor put it), she is seen as a talisman for success. "Trisha bring with her the baggage of victory," one produced in raptures said.

"Her acting to is uncomplicated. Her glamour is also just what the doctor ordered. In other words, just perfect for us," he adds.

But producers wanting to book her in their films have now difficulty reaching her.

The spindly-framed actress is said to have upped the ante following the unprecedented twin success. She has naturally raised her remuneration to around Rs.40-50 lakh.

Previously, it was in the vicinity of Rs.25 lakh. Only Ramya Krsihnan in Telugu had received a bigger cheque than that recently.

But the point is producers and actors are willing to pay up.

Success doesn't come cheap. They understand the truism.
