‘Padmavati’ which features Deepika Padukone in the lead role is considered to be the magnum opus of Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film has been already receiving flak from hindu factions including the BJP and Rajput Sena.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party’s senior leader Subramanian Swamy has stated in a television interview that many Bollywood films that deal with historical Muslim rulers receive funds from Dubai hinting at an 'international conspiracy'. He also stressed that this should be checked and opined that wil soon take this issue to the government.
However, the makers of the film has refuted the allegations from Subramanian Swamy asking to prove his claims. They had also stated that Alauddin Khilji has been portrayed as a villain in this movie and also that one should not resort to opiniating about a film without even watching it.
The film which is produced at a grand scale also has Bollywood’s leading men Shahid Kappor and Ranveer Singh in other important roles.
