Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha M.P. Subramaniam Swamy has expressed his confidence that the ensuing 2-G verdict would be beneficial for the whole country.

‘2G scam’ refers to the Rs.1.79 lakh crore scam committed during the erstwhile regime at the Centre of the Congress-led UPA Government involving former Union Telecom Minister A. Raja, former Union Telecom secretary and DMK’s Rajya Sabha M.P. Kanimozhi. The trial in the case had been concluded at a special CBI Court in Delhi.

The case was adjourned sine die on 26th April after Justice O.P. Saini had heard all arguments by the concerned parties and their counsels. The Judge had earlier announced that the much-awaited verdict in the case would be delivered on 21st December (the date of by-polls in R.K. Nagar in Chennai) as he had almost concluded the work relating to delivering the verdict.

Commenting on the announcement, Subramaniam Swamy said that he was happy that the verdict in the case, which has been dragging for many years, would be finally out in a fortnight’s time. “The guilty would be sent to prison,” he said and added that the verdict would be beneficial for the overall welfare of the country.
