Subhash Ghai's students part of Oscar win

Three Alumni of Subhash Ghai’s academy Whistling Woods International (WWI) were part of the Oscar winning teams for the Oscar winner ‘The Life of Pi’. The much acclaimed adventure drama, directed by Ang Lee, took away 4 Oscars (Best Picture, Best Cinematography Best Music and Best VFX) and had 11 nominations.

Murali Krishna was a part of Claudio Miranda's winning cinematography team and Kavan J. Ahalpara and Supreet Singh were part of the team at Rhythms and Hues that won for the best VFX in ‘Life Of Pi’, at the 85th Academy Awards.

Elated over the achievement, Ghai Remarked in a statement, "I am proud to see three Whistling Woods Alumni as part of the Oscar winning film ‘Life Of Pi’."

While Meghna Ghai Puri, President of Whistling Woods International, Mumbai beaming in pride, said, "Six years ago we dreamt that one day our students would be part of a winning film at the Oscars... Today is that day. I’m extremely happy for my students."

For the records, WWI’s students have worked in popular films like Gangs of Wasseypur 1 & 2, ‘No One Killed Jessica’, ‘Ra One’, ‘Shanghai’, ‘Aarakshan’, ‘Agneepath’, ‘Ferrari ki Sawari’, ‘Chillar Party’, ‘Yuvvraaj’, ‘Dum Maro Dum’, ‘Mausam’, ‘Peepli Live’, ‘Desi Boyz’, ‘Don 2’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘ABCD’, ‘Special 26’ and the most recent critically acclaimed ‘Kai Po Che’.
