After a wide and long search for his leading lady, director Subhash Ghai is now on the lookout for a fresh face for an item number in his musical drama ‘Kaanchi’.

He is inviting aspiring actresses to win a chance to become the next item girl in his upcoming film. The item number, which has been composed by Ismail Darbar, will have Kaanchi's new item girl dancing to the steps of Saroj Khan. Not only that; she would also stand a chance to be considered for a lead role in Mukta Arts' forthcoming venture.

The girl will be selected on the basis of her performance at the audition which will be judged by director Subhash Ghai, music composer Ismail Darbar and the famed choreographer Saroj Khan.

Earlier Deepika Padukone was said to have been offered the chance, but the actress turned down the offer.

Directed by Subhash Ghai, Kaanchi is the story of an innocent rural beauty and her fight against power. Starring Mishti and Kartik Aryan, the musical drama is produced by

Mukta Arts and is slated to release in February, 2014.
