Director Lakshmy Ramakrishnan’s third film gets a release date

Apart from being a noted character artist Lakshmy Ramakrishnan has also recognized as a director of meaningful films with novel concepts. After the critically acclaimed ‘Aarohanam’ and ‘Nerungi Vaa Muthamidadhey’ she has written and directed ‘Ammani’ a film that has a 82 year old woman in the titular character.

The film produced by Ven Govinda under the ‘Tag Entertainment’ banner, is all set to hit the screens on October 14, 2016.

The makers reveal that ‘Ammani’ is the tale of a special bonding between two characters ‘Salamma’, 57 (played by Lakshmy Ramakrishnan) and ‘Ammani’, 82 (played by Subbalakshmi, who played Trisha’s granny in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa). The film with a relatively short running time of 105 minutes has Nithin Sathya, Robo Shankar, George Mariyan, Sri Balaji, Rejin Rose, C Renukha and S Annam in other pivotal roles.

The film’s technical crew is well-built with a bunch of talented technicians such as Cinematographer KR Imran Ahmedh, Music Director K, Editor KR Rejith, Art Director AS Raja, Lyricist Na Muthukumar and Dance Choreographer M Sherif.

Producer Ven Govinda said "When I read the script of ‘Ammani’, I just felt like reading a novel. The script was that much interesting. ‘Ammani’ is something more than entertainment. "

Just because the film has been directed by woman and has women in lead roles there is a risk that the film may get branded as women oriented. However Lakshmy Ramakrishnan stubbornly denies this perception being cast on her film.

"Ammani is not a Women oriented film. It is related to everyone with a universal concept. Normally People will think how there life has to be, but a women thinks how her death has to be. She is ‘Ammani’. I thank producer Ven Govinda for picking up such a strong script."

Lyricist Na.Muthukumar whose untimely demise shocked everyone in the film buff as well as the film fraternity has penned songs in this film. Speaking about his contribution the director says " I would like to dedicate our ‘Ammani’ to late Lyricist Na Muthukumar. He was simply the legend. His works in ‘Ammani’ were priceless. The New-Age-philosophical song, ‘Lifea Machan Machan oru Prepaid Phoneu…’ written by Na Muthukumar will speak about the facts of life."

Lakshmy Ramakrishnan ends it on a confident tone with these words: " We are quite sure that ‘Ammani’ will travel in the hearts of Audience very soon…"
