Indian stuntman Chanchal Lahiri who goes by the stage name ‘Jadugar Mandrake,’ went missing in the Ganges following a stunt in which he was lowered into the river tied up with steel chains and a rope. The 40-year-old who said: “If I can free myself it will be magic, if I cannot it will be tragic” is still being searched for by family members.
The stuntman has performed similar acts in the past. About a similar stunt he performed 21 years previously, Lahiri said: “I was inside a bulletproof glass box tied with chain and locks and dropped down from Howrah bridge. Then I came out within 29 seconds.” He entered the river on Sunday while several onlookers, police officers and family members watched him being lowered by a crane into the water. It is still unknown as to what has happened to him.
