Anl Arasu, widely acclaimed as one of Indian cinema's top stunt directors, embarked on his career transition from stunt artist to director after more than 12 years in the field. Now, he has taken on the roles of both director and producer.
Anl Arasu turns into a director with the film titled, 'Phoenix' aka 'Veezhan'. The upcoming film is being produced by Rajalakshmy Arasakumar under AK Braveman Pictures. Expressing his excitement at the film's launch event, Arasu mentioned his dedication to delivering his best in this directorial debut.
During the event, Arasu shared insights into the casting of Vijay Sethupathi's son Surya as the hero. He revealed, "While we were shooting for Jawan, Vijay Sethupathi's son had come to the sets to serve lunch to his father. He was keenly observing the preparation for the action sequence. That was the moment I realised that he was the right choice to play the lead in my directorial debut. When I shared this thought with Vijay Sethupathi, he was very happy about the decision as Surya was apt in this story and said that he is proud to introduce him to the silver screen through this film".
Addressing the press, Surya expressed his long-standing desire to act in fight scenes and his determination to seize the opportunity presented by 'Phoenix.' He underwent six months of training for the film, emphasizing his intention to establish his own identity in the industry without relying on his father's support. Surya highlighted the differences in their styles and affirmed his commitment to making a name for himself. The film commenced its shoot with a Pooja ceremony held on November 24.
