Students who returned from Tamil Nadu violate quarantine

A total of 30 students who had returned to Kerala from Tamil Nadu violated quarantine as per the government rules. The returnees are said to have arrived from the red zone district of Thiruvallur. As of Friday, Thiruvallur district has a total of 200 COVID-19 patients.

The Kotayyam based students who returned through Walayar checkpoint underwent screening and were instructed to go under quarantine at government centers. However, the students did not follow this directive. Of the 30 students, 4 students had voluntarily contacted the healthcare workers and quarantined themselves at their respective centres. Meanwhile, the Kottayam Police had begun steps to locate the other students.

As of Friday, a total of 117 students had returned from Tamil Nadu. Over 5,000 people returned to Kerala from other states so far after the lockdown regulations were eased.
