We broke the news first to you that Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International is producing Simbu's 48th movie directed by Desingh Periyasamy of 'Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal' fame. It is also said that the film will bring together for the first time the childhood friends Simbu and Anirudh.

RKFI a while earlier made a cryptic announcement "See you on the battlefield at 6.30 pm tomorrow. #BLOODandBATTLE". It is more or less confirmed that 'STR 48' will be announced officially on 9th March at the specified time in the evening. The internet has gone abuzz with the prospect of the massive Kamal-Simbu-Desingh Periyasamy and Anirudh combo.

Sources say that 'STR 48' will be the highest budgeted film in Simbu's career with over 100 Crore rupees set aside for it. It is also reported that the story was originally narrated by Desingh Periyasamy to Superstar Rajinikanth who loved the subject but it did not materialise. Meanwhile Simbu's 'Pathu Thala' directed by Obeli N Krishna and costarring Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar is all set to storm theaters worldwide on March 30th. RKFI on the other hand is also bankrolling a Sivakarthikeyan-Sai Pallavi starrer directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy and a Vijay Sethupathi-Pradeep Ranganathan starrer directed by Vignesh Shivan. The production house is also coproducing 'KH 233' directed by H. Vinod and 'k4234' directed by Mani Ratnam.
