'Dora', the up-and-coming Nayanthara starrer, is directed by Dass Ramasamy. The Telugu version is produced by Malkapuram Shivakumar of Suraksh Entertainment Media.

Contrary to the perception that the film is a horror on the lines of Nayanthara's 2015 super hit 'Maya', 'Dora' is actually a fantasy crime thriller, in the director's own words.

"The film is a crime thriller. There is a ghost, but it won't terrorise the audience. The ghost will be a fantasy element within the crime thriller flick. The title 'Dora' has a connection with the story and we haven't selected the title just because it is a popular cartoon character. Thambi Ramaiah is acting as Nayan's father and he will be providing comic relief. Harish Uthaman plays a police officer. The story revolves around a car and Nayan. The first look where Nayan is shown facing a car, aptly captures the crux of the story", the director says.

The film is done with the talkie portions. "This is yet another female-oriented movie from Nayanthara. This one is unconventional when compared to flicks of the same genre. Nayan's characterization is brand new. There are many twists and turns. We are proceeding with the aim of dishing out a novel film on our banner. The movie will be released simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil", the producer says.

Music-directed by Vivek-Mervin, 'Dora' also stars Thambi Ramaiah, Harish Uthaman and others.
