Steven Spielberg is still going strong in what he does best! He will next be directing the film adaptation of writer Ernest Cline's sci-fi cult favorite 'Ready Player One'. Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow are developing the film and will be Spielberg`s next project after the current film he's working on 'The BFG'.
Greg Silverman, Warner Bros.' studio president, creative development and worldwide production said in a statement, "We are thrilled to welcome Steven back to Warner Bros. We had an historic series of collaborations in the 1980s and 1990s and have wanted to bring him back for years." It must be noted that 'Ready Player One' will see Spielberg and Warner Bros. collaborating together after a gap of 14 years.
'Ready Player One' is a novel that in which the story takes place within the virtual world of a video game in the year 2044. The story revolves around a game creator who offers his entire company to the first player that deduces or finds a particular Easter egg hidden/embedded in the game 'OASIS'. Gamers keep trying for decades and continue to fail until one day when a teenager named Wade Watts decides to give it a shot.
One of the biggest challenges Spielberg may face while making this movie will be making audiences feel like they themselves are part of the said virtual reality.
The latest script for the film has been written by 'X-Men: The Last Stand' writer Zak Penn. As of now, no release date has been set for 'Ready Player One'.
