Samantha Ruth Prabhu has addressed the recent backlash she received from medical professionals after recommending hydrogen peroxide nebulisation for treating viral infections. The actress, who shared a picture of herself undergoing the treatment, was criticized by Dr Cyriac Abby Philips, known as "The Liver Doc," who labelled her "health and science illiterate" and highlighted the potential adverse effects of the technique.

In a detailed statement, Samantha clarified her stance, stating that she had tried numerous conventional treatments, some very expensive, but found limited success. Driven by a desire to find relief and considering affordability, she explored alternative therapies. After trials and errors, she found treatments that worked for her, and she felt it was important to share this information with others who might be struggling.

She emphasized that she was not advocating for the treatment but merely sharing her personal experience, particularly for those who may be seeking alternative options due to the high cost of conventional medicine. She stressed that she was not making any money from the post nor endorsing anyone. She further explained that she had received this recommendation from a highly qualified MD with 25 years of service in DRDO, who, after years of conventional medicine training, chose to advocate for alternative therapy.

Addressing Dr. Philips directly, Samantha suggested that instead of attacking her, he should have engaged in a debate with her doctor. She highlighted that people facing health issues need options, especially when conventional treatments aren't working, and it is important to consider all available options.

Samantha acknowledged that she will be more careful in the future about sharing information regarding her medical journey. She expressed her intention to help others, not harm them, and acknowledged that she has received suggestions for various alternative therapies, including Ayurveda, homeopathy, and acupuncture. She reiterated that she was merely sharing a treatment that worked for her, as an option, understanding the difficulties of navigating conflicting opinions in the medical world.
