The just concluded IPL 2018 in which M.S. Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings were crowned the Champions became not only one of the most exciting T20 tournaments ever but one where many records tumbled and many more were created. In this feature we take a look at some of the magnificent records that sparkle from IPL 2018.

When you mention the word records then the CSK captain cannot be far behind and this time too he has created many a record including hitting the most number of sixes in IPL by an Indian batsman which 186. MSD became the first captain to win 150 T20 matches after playing in 255 including yesterday's final. Thala Dhoni affected his 33rd stumping in the final and he has surpassed Robin Uttappa's 32 which was the previous best. Dhoni is the only cricketer to reach 8 IPL finals.

The Most Valuable Player Awardee . Sunil Narine has had an unforgettable IPL 2018 as he made huge contributions with the bat and the ball. He scored a 17 ball 50 for the second time and also became the first overseas player to take 100 wickets. The West Indian also scored the most runs (21) in the first over of an IPL surpassing Naman Ojha's previous record.

The Australian opener did not make much impression in his stint with Kings Eleven Punjab this IPL but achieved the distinction of being the only player who has represented seven teams in the IPL. He has played for Rajasthan Royals (2010), Delhi Daredevils (2011-2012), Pune Warriors India (2013), SunRisers Hyderabad (2014), Mumbai Indians (2015) and Gujarat Lions (2016-2017).

The Delhi Daredevils wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant made merry scoring runs at will and by smashing 128 off 63 balls became the highest scoring Indian player ever in the IPL. He also became the first wicket keeper batsman to score 100 plus boundaries (105) and the fourth after Gayle, Warner and Kohli to do it in one season.

Can you keep the world's best batsman out of the records column? The answer is no and the master blaster became the first to score 500 plus runs in five different IPL seasons 2011 (557), 2013 (634), 2015 (505) and 2016 (973). Kohli became the first batsman to score 5000 runs for one team in T20 cricket and also scored the most 50s by an Indian batsman (54) surpassing the previous record of 53 held by Gautham Gambhir.

The rookie pacer Ankit Rajpoot made history by becoming the first uncapped player to take a five wicket haul when demolished Sun Risers Hyderabad by bowling figures 4 - 0 14- 5 for Kings Eleven Punjab., Incidentally this is the best bowling figure by a Kings XI Punjab bowler ever in IPL.

This year's mystery spinner Rashid Khan became the youngest player in history to play 100 T20 matches in the world which was punctuated by him getting the man of the match award for his 100th game. The 19 year old also took his 100th wicket as well in this year's edition of the IPL.

The old war horse Chris Gayle who had hoped that he would be retained by RCB finally played for Kings XI Punjab and he announced his arrival in style by scoring a century off 58 balls against SRH. His IPL tally of 100s is six and he has 21 in T20 cricket which is the most by any batsman in the world with the players next to him having only close to 10 centuries.

T20 cricket and the IPL is all about sixes and this year there were 872 hit which is the most in a single year compared to the previous record year 2012 in which 731 sixes were hit
