The body of a 15-year-old girl from Kerala, who was reported missing on Thursday, was found buried in a plantain garden on Saturday.

Ajesh, a 31-year-old lorry driver, has been arrested on charges of murder of the minor girl after she allegedly resisted his rape attempt. The girl’s parents filed the complaint on Friday, following which an investigation led to the capture of the accused after the call details of the victim were traced by the police. Ajesh had reportedly called her multiple times the day before the murder. When he finally lured the teenager to his place, he attempted to rape her but when she resisted, he killed and buried her body in a banana plantation behind a hollow brick unit at Areeparambu near Manarcad.

The police have stated that the motive behind Ajesh’s killing is still unclear and will be determined only after thorough investigation. However, they have reported that the accused had been stalking the minor for quite a long time.
