DMK’s working president M.K. Stalin has said that his party would decide about allying with superstar Rajinikanth’s yet-to-be-floated political outfit depending on the situation prevailing at the time of Assembly polls.
Rajini, who announced last Sunday his decision to involve himself in active politics, met DMK’s nonagenarian president M. Karunanidhi at the latter’s Gopalapuram residence and sought his blessings. Political observers felt it was indeed courageous and mischievous that Rajini took Karunanidhi’s blessing to defeat the DMK (as well as the ruling AIADMK).
Stalin, DMK’s working president, was present during Rajini’s 20-minute long meeting with his fate. Later, Rajini told newspersons that he wished the DMK chief a hapy new year and took his blessings for his political endeavours. Rajini, however, avoided replying to queries on ‘religious politics’ that he spoke about last Sunday.
Soon after Rajini left, Stalin told the press that Rajini wanted his father’s blessings for his political endeavours. “As per Dravidian culture, Karunanidhi blessed Rajini,” he said and while replying to another specific query, Stalin said that his party would think about allying with Rajini’s political outfit only during the Assembly polls and not before that.
He, however, asserted that nobody (read: Rajini) can shake the Dravidian movement in the State, for which seeds were sowed by the later Periyar, Anna and his father.
