Stalin shouldn't confuse people with his statements: R.P. Udhayakumar

State Revenue & Disaster Management Minister R.P. Udhayakumar has asked DMK’s working president M.K. Stalin not to confuse people with misleading/wrong statements on most issues.

Monsoon rains have been lashing several parts of the State in general and Chennai in particular, inundating low-lying areas and thus bringing to the fore the high degree of ill-planning of civic authorities.  Speaking to newsmen in Madurai yesterday, Udhayakumar said that action had been initiated on a war-footing to remove water from low-lying areas across the State.

Accusing Stalin of providing wrong information on the measures initiated by the State Govt. in controlling the after-effects of heavy rains across the State, he advised Stalin to behave responsibly as a Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and speak in a manner which is neither confusing spreading panic among the people.

“Opposition parties are duty-bound to advise the Govt. in power in a democracy,” he further stated.  “Even if Stalin doesn’t have the heart to appreciate the State’s noble activities, he could at least keep quiet instead of telling lies,” he said. “Heavy downpour has made matters worse in several places,” he conceded and added that alternate arrangements for flood-affected people’s stay were being made urgently.
