The Lok Sabha elections for Tamilnadu are scheduled to be held on April 18, and the political parties of the state have finalized their alliances and have started making the strategies towards approaching the election and winning the support of people.
DMK President MK Stalin has been actively working on election activities, and following the alliance agreements and the candidate list announcements, he will be starting the election campaign from tomorrow, in his father Kalaignar M Karunanidhi's home town Thiruvarur.
Ahead of the election campaign, Stalin had today released the election manifesto of DMK, that included some important announcements including cancellation of NEET exam, waiver of loans etc, and listed below are the salient features of the manifesto:
* Old pension scheme will be brought back for central and state government employees.
* Interest free loans upto Rs 50000 will be provided to women to help them start their own business.
* Efforts will be taken to release the 7 people imprisoned in Rajiv Gandhi murder case.
* Educational loans of students will be waived off.
* Efforts to announce separate for agriculture in the Parliament.
* Instead of cylinder subsidy refunded to bank accounts, efforts will be made to reduce the price of gas cylinders.
* Cancellation of NEET Entrance for medical studies.
* Amendment to make central government offices in Tamil Nadu function with Tamil language, and to make Tamil as the joint official language.
* Indian citizenship for Sri Lankan refugees.
* 50 lakhs women to be employed as people welfare workers.
* Efforts to bring back the old policy to set prices of Petrol and Diesel.
* New law to prevent crimes against women arising from social media.
* The taxes paid in highway tolls will be cancelled.
* Free electricity for weavers.
* Efforts to interlink South rivers.
* Steps to charge cable TV fares as per old format.
* Free train transportation for students.
* Efforts to increase the income of individuals to 1 lakh.
