Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, the outspoken and genial president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Tamil Nadu Unit, has accused DMK’s working president M.K. Stalin of attempting to gain a ‘backdoor’ entry to (holding) power in the State by creating utter confusion in the name of protesting on the Cauvery water issue.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday in Krishnagiri, Tamilisai said that the DMK and other opposition parties in the State were not serious about protesting for Cauvery water but were only keen in achieving political mileage out of farmers’ difficulties.
“I would hold Stalin, the DMK’s working president, entirely responsible if there occurs a breakdown of law and order scenario in the State on the Cauvery water row. It is very apparent that Stalin wants to create unnecessary confusion and mayhem in the State so that the DMK and he can gain a backdoor entry to holding power in the State and by unseating the AIADMK regime.
“Thankfully, Stalin won’t succeed in his efforts. DMK leaders and others are blaming the BJP-led Centre unwarrantedly on the issue of setting up Cauvery Management Board. In fact, it was the DMK and the Congress which had betrayed Tamils’ interest in a huge manner in the past. To hit the nail on its head, Stalin, Thirumavalavan and the DMK’s allies are all guilty in this regard,” Tamilisai concluded.
