SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali" franchise had set a benchmark for success at the Indian box office. Now, the master storyteller's recent multistarrer film "RRR" has re-written history once again as it has been the highest Indian grosser since its release last week. It hit the screens worldwide on March 25 (Friday) and opened to highly positive reviews from the critics and general audience.
The latest hot news is that RRR has crossed INR 500 crores collection at the global box office in just 3 days. This is the second Rajamouli film to achieve the feat as his previous release "Baahubali: The Conclusion" also managed to collect INR 500 crores in the opening weekend. The epic historical fiction movie still continues to dominate the box office in its second week too.
Rajamouli has made an iconic multistarrer film that perfectly maintains the balance of mass between two top heroes with huge fan bases sharing screen space. He seems to have a knack for directing grandeur films as he has been consistently producing convincing massive-budget movies. The critics acclaimed the vision of the filmmaker, which redefines the term "magnum opus" in Indian cinema.
"RRR" is based on a friendship of two freedom fighters set in India under the British around the 1920s. It stars Ram Charan as Alluri Sita Rama Raju and Junior NTR as Komaram Bheem with Alia Bhatt playing Sita while Olivia Morris, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran and Samuthirakani play supporting roles. The film has music by MM Keeravani, visuals by KK Senthil Kumar and cuts by Sreekar Prasad.
