MERA NAAM JOKER (1970, 4 hours, four minutes)
Raj Kapoor's MERA NAAM JOKER is Bollywood's First movie that was 4 hours, four minutes and had two intervals. The movie was Raj Kapoor's most ambitious film and had stars like Rajendra Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Dharmendra, and Raj Kapoor himself. It was the debut film of Rishi Kapoor as child artist.
The movie had great music by Shanker Jaikishen but the movie failed to click at the box office.
SANGAM (1964, 3 hours, 58 minutes)
Before MERA NAAM JOKER, Raj Kapoor made SANGAM. It was Raj Kapoor's production's First color film. SANGAM stars the filmmaker in a love triangle with Vyajayantimala and Rajendra Kumar. The romantic drama of close friends torn apart by secret love and consequences remains one of the most memorable blockbusters of the sixties. Hence encouraged by the movie's success Raj Kapoor pumped all his resources and made MERA NAAM JOKER but unfortunately the movie could not repeat SANGAM's success.

Aamir Khan's cricket saga took the nation by storm and it was huge hit. Though the movie didn't boost of expensive sets but its hard hitting patriotic theme did the trick. Initially director Ashutosh Gowariker's bright idea of combining India's two primary passions: Cricket and cinema was discarded by many but Aamir Khan showed interest and produced the movie.
The movie not only won national awards but was also nominated at Oscar Awards.
