SRK to produce new-age web series

Shah Rukh Khan-owned Red Chillies Entertainment has grand plans.  It will produce a Netflix original named ‘Betaal’.  The web series will be aired next year.

The village-based period drama is set in the British era of Indian history.  The title reportedly denotes the nature of a British Indian Army officer who clashes with an Indian police officer with his “battalion of zombie redcoats”.  It seems this one mixes period genre with a bit of history and loads of horror.

It may be noted that the Bollywood superstar, whose films haven’t been doing well, is now seeking to turn a new leaf and branch out into the digital space as a producer.  If the collaboration between his production company and Netflix clicks, expect him to go the whole hog in the coming years.
