Srisailam accident: Nine declared dead, KCR orders CID probe

As is known, nine employees were trapped inside the Srisailam hydel power plant due to a short circuit-induced fire accident at the Left Bank Hydroelectric plant. The news is that all nine have been declared dead. They couldn't be rescued by NDRF and other rescue teams. Chief Engineer Prabhakar Rao has been quoted as saying that the engineers are believed to have died of asphyxiation.
Reports say that, in total, there were 17 employees when the fire broke out. Eight had managed to rescue themselves.
In the wake of the tragedy, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has ordered a CID probe. He said that all the factors that led to the accident must be unravelled. Additional DGP Govind Singh has been instituted to lead the probe.
The CM expressed dismay over the tragedy and the precious lives lost. He is sad that the rescue efforts couldn't bear fruit.
