Who would have thought that India has a Usain Bolt living unsung? His name is Srinivasa Gowda, a 28-year-old youth from Karnataka. He has turned heads after a video clip in which he is seen running a distance of 100 metres in just 9.55 seconds went viral earlier this week.
As per some, Gowada could be the fastest runner in the world, deserving of representing India in the Olympics. The video became viral after industrialist Anand Mahindra shared it with this comment: "Just one look at his physique & you know this man is capable of extraordinary athletic feats. Now either Kiren Rijiju provides him training as a 100m sprinter or we get Kambala to become an Olympic event. Either way, we want a gold medal for Srinivasa!"
Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State (Youth Affairs & Sports), responded to it as he was tagged in the tweet. "I will call Karnataka's Srinivasa Gowda for trials by top SAI Coaches. There's lack of knowledge in masses about the standards of Olympics especially in athletics where ultimate human strength & endurance are surpassed. I'll ensure that no talents in India is left out untested," the Minister said.
Hope that Gowda will be India's pride one day!
