Like all the top stars here in this film 'Srimathi' outcome Upendra also faces the piquant situation. His film with high quality and gravity 'Super' has stayed in the fans mind very strong and the contents of this film far below to the image of Upendra and thus earn a beating.
The usual Upendra style - briskness in scenes, dialogues and tricky situations are not found in this film. Fully shaved throughout the film Upendra is put in uncomfortable position.
'Srimathi' a remake of seven years ago released Hindi film 'Aitraaz' is a bedroom and courtroom drama. Only these two factors in this film might get the audience to the theatres.
Looking at the hapless situation of her husband Rajakumar (Upendra) the assistant to barrister Priya takes up the case when the crucial proof is lost and her senior is badly hit. Priya to prove that her husband is innocent comes as advocates and reopens the case that is almost closed. The evidence she delivers, the questioning she makes to Sonia Roy (Celina Jaitley) earns her applaud. Priya turns the perfect 'Shrimathi' and saves her husband from virtual imprisonment.
The reason for Priya to take up the case is because of old connections of her husband Rajakumar and Sonia that is reopened again. Sonia killing her baby after conceiving from Rajakumar five years ago returns as an old business tycoon wife. She gives position to Rajakumar in the office and asks him to satisfy her lust. When Rajakumar declines the offer the court room drama begins.
Upendra is in good costumes with no moustache it is difficult to see him throughout. Powerful dialogues were needed for this 'Buddivantha' (in the film Buddivantha - Upendra is such a marvelous character who topples from his dialogues - in this 'Srimathi' he has nothing to shield him).
Priyanka is far better than Celina Jaitley. Priyanka role is like by the present generation of married woman too. Kota Srinivas Rao comedy in the court hall earns a good laugh for him.
Prem Chopra is wasted and so is Sayyaji Shindhe. Camera work result from Johny Lal is lost in the post production of the film. GK has scored two good tunes but they are not long lasting.
Score - 5/10
