Srikanth: Kotabommali PS has more political flavor than Nayattu

'Kotabommali PS', directed by Teja Marini, is set to hit theaters with a grand release on November 24, 2023. This remake of the Malayalam hit "Nayattu" features a stellar cast, including Srikanth, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Shivani Rajasekhar, Rahul Vijay, and Murali Sharma in pivotal roles. With the film generating significant buzz through its first look, teaser, and trailer, lead actor Srikanth shared insights with the media ahead of the release.

What is 'Kotabommali PS' all about?

'Kotabommali PS' revolves around police chasing the police—a unique twist on the conventional theme of police chasing criminals. The film delves into the intriguing dynamics of why the police force turns against its own and explores the involvement of politicians in exploiting different factions within the police. It sheds light on the political system's interference, vote bank politics, and caste dimensions.

Tell us about your role in the film.

"I play the character of Head Constable Ramakrishna, and the narrative revolves around the roles of Rahul Vijay, Shivani Rajasekhar, and me. It's a story of three dedicated cops, their sincerity, and the challenges they face. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar portrays my higher official, adding a layer of clash involving seniority, experience, and how a lower-ranked official overcomes the strategic maneuvers and orders of a top official".

Is 'Kotabommali PS' a political cop thriller?

"The screenplay is incredibly racy, playing a vital role in the film. Unlike my earlier films with commercial touches and songs, it also delves into the family lives of the cops".

It is a Malayalee adaptation. Can you share more about that?

"Yes, it is an adaptation of 'Nayattu.' While we couldn't replicate scenes verbatim, we made significant changes considering Telugu nativity. I am doing more selective roles lately, such as 'Akhanda' and 'Skanda.' After a considerable time, I am portraying a full-length character in 'Kotabommali,' offering ample scope for performance in a natural way, resembling real-life cops".

Were there any controversial dialogues?

"I didn't have any, but Murali Sharma has a few".

What can you tell us about the technicians involved in the project?

"All the technicians are young and dynamic. The director, DOP, BGM, and editing team focused on the film. Producers personally took care of the project, and the film was shot in the scenic Araku Valley".

How was the shooting experience in Araku Valley?

"We worked diligently in Araku, facing challenges with night shoots, chases, and action sequences. It was a unique experience for me, despite having worked on many films before. Shooting in the interiors of Paderu, with a backdrop resembling Srikakulam, added authenticity. The producers, Bunny Vas, and others did not compromise on any aspect. The success of the song 'Lingi Lingi' boosted our confidence that the film will be a big hit".

Did you give any suggestions to the director?

"No, we should learn from them. It's a collaborative effort and teamwork".

What can you tell us about director Teja Marini?

"Dedication is crucial. Director Teja Marni has expertly handled the subject matter, maintaining a firm grip on the Srikakulam backdrop. His ability to write dialogues added an interesting dimension to the film".

Tell us more about your role and the dialect you acquired.

"The dialogue is natural and realistic. I immersed myself in the Srikakulam dialect for authenticity. I am eagerly looking forward to watching the film."

Have you watched "Nayattu"?

"Yes, I watched it. It's a national award-winning film. We made some changes to adapt it for the Telugu audience, incorporating more political flavor into 'Kotabommali'".

What can you share about your future projects?

"I am playing a significant role in the film 'Game Changer' alongside Ram Charan, 'Devara' alongside NTR, and in a film featuring Mohanlal".

What about your son Roshan?

"I am producing a film with my son Roshan in the lead role".
