The all-time classic of thespian NT Rama Rao, ‘Lava Kusa’, earned name not only for NTR, Anjali Devi but also Kanta Rao, who equally enjoyed the fame. He played a crucial role in the film as the film takes a twist with the leaving of Goddess Sita in the forests by Lakshmana.

Even during the climax, it was after Lakshmana gets defeated, Rama enters the scene. Now, coming to the point, the same film is being remade as ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’ with Balakrishna playing the role of Lord Rama and Nayantara playing the heroine Sita. So the question came up as to who could fill the slot of Lakshmana.

The director of the film Bapu and the hero Balakrishna announced their choice as Srikanth unanimously and he was finalized immediately. Akkineni Nageswara Rao was chosen to play the role of Valmiki.

This is the second film for Srikant in the combination of the director after ‘Radha Gopalam’ and Srikant sets another record that he played with all the four top heroes of the Tollywood like Chiranjeevi (Shankar Dada MBBS), Nagarjuna (Ninne Premista), Venkatesh (Sankranti) and now Balakrishna (Sri Rama Rajyam).
