Srikakulam: Excellent administration keeps the district safe from COVID-19

Is Srikakulam turning out to be a model district? If some reports are to be believed, the answer is a resounding 'yes'. The proactive administration is said to be doing a brilliant job in containing the spread of COVID-19. So much so, its District Collector is coming in for a lot of praise.

The IAS Association today plugged an interview of the Collector and quoted a newspaper as saying this: District Administration Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh led by J Nivas, IAS, has ensured the district is free from COVID-2019 with extensive surveillance, tech-aided scrutiny and community outreach.

The Collector had started implementing home isolation in the strictest manner possible in the district quite early on. As many as 6,000 people have been efficiently quarantined so far, with checks carried out methodically. Border controls have been implemented religiously. As a result of these and many more systematic measures, the district has been saved from COVID-19.

Latest, mobile sample collection units for testing have been introduced.

Apart from Vizianagaram, Srikakulam is the only district in Andhra Pradesh to have not registered a single positive case so far.
