The pan-India star of yesteryears and a true superstar India Sridevi has always had a language supervisor in her real as well as reel life.

On the sets of English Vinglish, Sridevi had a full time language supervisor named Kausar Munir.

She is a lyricist and has worked on films like Ishaqzaade and Ek Tha Tiger. This was done as even on a personal level Sridevi has always had to undergo a constant struggle with her languages. As Sridevi was born in Tamil Nadu her mother tongue is Tamil.

Coming from the south always made language a big barrier for Sridevi. Where on one side knowing and being fluent with Tamil made her dominance in South Cinema rather easy, on the other side her journey in Bollywood has had a lot of frictions because her command over Hindi was weak.

She not comfortable with Hindi so she always had a teacher when she use to shoot. Kausar Munir, the language supervisor of Sridevi for English Vinglish, says, "Gauri is a dear friend. During the pre-production, she called me and asked me to be the language consultant especially for Sridevi. I wanted to contribute in any way possible.

Also I am a huge fan of Sridevi- two of my favorite films being Chaalbaaz and Chandni. I started doing workshops with Sri two months before the film went on floors. Then Gauri suggested that I should be present on the sets as well.

So I became part of the Mumbai and New York schedule." Interestingly her character in the film English Vinglish faces the same struggle as Sridevi has faced in her real life with the English language. Sridevi's personal struggle with the language and the character's struggle with the language is identical.

It is fascinating how her on-screen character draws parallel with her real life. She always had a language supervisor for herself in real life to fight this struggle with the language and become the ‘first female superstar of Bollywood’ that she had popularly known to be.

When she was shooting for her film English Vinglish abroad, even there she had a language supervisor on sets with her at all times as she had to juggle between Hindi and English language in the film.
