The Rachakonda police have unearthed a huge spiritual-business scam in Hyderabad. Kumar Girish Singh, who has given spiritual discourses on several TV channels and is a YouTube personality in his own right, is the accused.
Girish started out by setting up an office. He reportedly lured customers to buy a subscription by paying a fee of Rs 1,100 to Rs 60,000. The subscribers were offered to click on social media advertisements to earn money. Those who enrolled new subscribers were promised unrealistic rewards. No rewards came but he continued to amass huge fee amounts.
In this way, Girish, his wife and a couple of other associates allegedly mopped up Rs 50 Cr! The fake spiritual exponent has links with at least 30 shell companies, police say.
The scam has been unearthed on a tip-off that the police got.
