Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has opted out from producing future Spider-Man movies, following profit sharing conflicts between Sony which holds the rights and Marvel’s parent company Disney. This would directly mean that this will that the last movie of Spiderman in the Marvel cinematic universe will be Spider-Man: Far From Home, released this summer.
As per reports, Disney had reportedly wanted the upcoming Spider-Man movies to be on a 50-50 profit share basis between Disney and Sony, while the current deal is to provide Marvel and Disney with 5 percent of gross box-office revenue. While Disney feels that their involvement was a major reason behind the success of the recent Spiderman movies, Sony has disagreed leading to them part ways.
It has been said that Sony is confident of delivering hits with director Jon Watts (who made Spider-Man: Homecoming and its sequel, Far From Home), actor Tom Holland, and producer Amy Pascal combo can guarantee Spiderman movies success, even in the absence of Feige's Marvel.
