On Sunday evening, reports came in that the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which has been going after the drugs mafia in Mumbai in the aftermath of the death of Sushant Singh Rajput in mid-2020, has detained a Tollywood actress. The NCB sleuths have not revealed the name of the actress. This has left the room open for speculations.

The actress is not believed to be an A-lister. With sections of media facing the flak from the Delhi High Court last year, the media is circumspect this time and is not indulging in reckless speculations. This is good from a journalistic point of view.

That said, social media has been a little unrestrained, with various handles randomly throwing names of actresses around.

The actress was arrested after a raid at a hotel in Mira Road, Mumbai. As reported by ANI, a drug peddler named Chand Mohammad was caught red-handed while drug supplier and history-sheeter Saaed is still absconding. "As much as 400 gms MD worth Rs 8-10 lakhs seized in last night operations," the NCB has been quoted as saying.
