'Sangamithra', the Kollywoodian project that is pipped to have a pan-Indian appeal (a la 'Baahubali'), is one of the costliest ever moves to be made in the country. Directed by C Sunder, it has Jayam Ravi, Arya and Shruti Haasan in key roles.

A period drama set in a specified time period (read 8th Century AD), the epic fantasy is to be launched at Cannes festival. This is a special day for Shruti Haasan because it marks her debut at the prestigious festival. She is playing a warrior princess, a role for which she has trained hard in sword-fighting, etc.

Music is by AR Rahman. Sabu Cyril, the production designer of 'Baahubali' franchise, is working on the gargantuan project.
