Sajeev Pillai’s maiden directorial venture Mamankam’s shooting at present is going in Mangalore. Pillai, formerly associated with Adoor Gopalakrishnan has crafted this movie script after a 12-year extensive research. Last day, a photo of Mammootty with Kannada superstar Sudeep appeared online which soon generated talks about the two acting together in Mamankam. Sudeep is a well-known actor in the South.
The movie is rooted in the medieval event, Mamankam, which was celebrated every 12 years from 800 AD to 1755 AD. And in this fair courageous warriors from different corners of the country would come together to exhibit their combat skills. Mammootty depicts a ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which turns around the life of these warriors who conspire to defeat the Zamorin rulers.
Kavya Films of Venu Kunnampilly is producing this epic thriller. Neeraj Madhav, ‘Queen’ fame Dhruv, Sunil Sukhada, Meghanathan and Sohan Seenulal are already part of the supporting cast.
Fully fledged shoot for the movie will begin only by May. Meanwhile, Mammootty’s Peranbu all set to hit the screens by the end of May or first week of June. The film was written and directed by Ram and he recently said that Mammootty is the only actor in the country who can essay the role of the protagonist in the film and not make it seem like acting on-screen.
