Famous K-pop stars Jung Joon-young and Choi Jong-hoon have been sentenced to six and five years in prison respectively, by a South Korean court, after being found guilty of gang-raping women who were intoxicated.

Jung Joon-young has additionally been charged with filming the crime and distributing the videos online. Apart from serving their jail sentence, the men will have to do 80 hours of sexual violence treatment courses. While the two singers insisted that the sex was consensual, the judge refused to accept and reportedly stated, "Jung and Choi took part in gang rape of victims who were intoxicated and unable to resist. It is hard to fathom the extent of suffering the victims must have gone through. The defendants are well-known celebrities and friends, but the chat they've had showed that they simply considered women as objects of sexual pleasure, and committed crimes that were extremely serious. Strict punishment is inevitable as the damage inflicted has not properly been recovered and the victims demand harsh penalties."

Revenge based sex crimes seem to be rampant across the country even as 28-year-old K-pop singer Goo Hara was found dead at her home in southern Seoul on Sunday. Her boyfriend Choi Jong-bum had allegedly threatened to release intimate videos of the two of them last year following their break-up.
