BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, who is a former Indian skipper, yesterday tested positive for Covid-19. The legendary sportsman has been admitted to Kolkata's Woodlands Hospital.
Latest reports say that his condition is stable. Ganguly's brother has been quoted as saying that he has been hospitalized only as a precautionary measure. The news agency PTI said that Ganguly was taken to the Woodlands Nursing Home on Monday night. "He has been given medication," the report added.
It has not been a good year for Ganguly. In January, he underwent a right coronary angioplasty after suffering a heart attack. He developed another chest pain just weeks later and underwent the second round of angioplasty.
Back then, medical updates revealed that two stents were placed in two arteries.
Recently, Ganguly was allegedly targeted by Virat Kohli's fans after the captaincy row hit Indian cricket. Ganguly received support from his fans. "Kohli’s social media army has gone after Ganguly. Here’s a test. Check how many of Kohli’s colleagues will speak nicely about him once he no longer has the power to destroy careers. Contrast that with how Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Bhajji still speak about Ganguly," wrote columnist Arnab Ray.
