Couple days ago, Sourav Ganguly revealed that a biopic on him is being planned and it's going to be huge. The project will be produced on a huge budget of around 200 crores. As of now, makers haven't decided the lead actor but Ranbir Kapoor is seemingly the first choice. A trade analyst said, "It is psychological but Ranbir definitely fits the bill. He will look like Ganguly, one has seen him play Sanjay Dutt in Sanju (2018). He is a fantastic choice."

Its apparant that makers want a young star who can accurately portray the energy that Sourav Ganguly used to carry on the field. Another trade analyst believes that Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Varun Dhawan are also possible candidates for the role of Dada.

He shared, "Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao would be the other obvious choices, they are gen-next. But it would also be possible to see Varun. He has not done anything like this before, he’s done over-the-top commercial stuff. If he gets the opportunity, why not? He’s a saleable name, has strength, is commercial. The only thing is he hasn’t experimented much. This will do what Sanju did to Ranbir’s career, add another feather to Dhawan’s career.”
