Soundarya Rajnikanth had earlier ventured into films as a graphic designer, and later turned a producer with her Ocher studios which produced Goa, and then debuted as a director with Superstar Rajnikanth starrer motion capture movie Kochadaiyaan (2014).

Soundarya made a return to direction with the 2017 flick Velaiyilla Pattadhari starring Dhanush, and now, she's all set to make a stunning return as a producer, with her May 6 Entertainments, which is all set to produce Ponniyin Selvan.

The announcement was made today regarding the epic project, based on the classic novel by Kalki. Ponniyin Selvan is being made as an MX Original web series produced by Soundarya Rajnikanth's May 6 Entertainments, and will be directed by debutant Sooryaprathap. More details on the magnum opus are awaited.
