Soundarya Rajinikanth shocks fans with a surprise update of her new web series - Details

Director, film producer and Graphic designer Soundarya Rajinikanth, the second daughter of the superstar has come up with an exciting update of her delayed web series Ponniyin Selvan. MX player announced the web series adaptation with a title design teaser in the year 2019. Though the project was surrounded by hype, it was delayed without any further updates. But it looks like the team has revived the projects.
Soundarya Rajinikanth confirmed via Twitter that the web series is getting into shape and also shared some photos from the preproduction. She wrote, Every project has a journey & a destiny. On this auspicious day I’m very happy to share after many hurdles - we have locked our web series PUTHU VELLAM - PONNIYIN SELVAN SEASON 1 Can’t wait for the next steps with my super talented team headed by @sharathjothi.gods grace.
Kalki Krishnamurthy’s five-part historical novel, first published in the 1950s, narrates the story of Arulmozhivarman, a Chola dynasty king who ruled in the late 10th and early 11th Century. Earlier in 2019, Soundarya stated that Ponniyin Selvan is indeed one of the greatest historical novels written in Tamil and considered by many as the crown jewel of Tamil Literature,” she said. “The novel chronicles the power struggle and the socio-political landscape of the Chola Dynasty, one of the longest ruling dynasties in Indian history and is a perfect amalgamation of an intriguing plot, romance, adventure, satire and an enduring battle for the throne. From the day I read this amazing novel, I was determined to narrate this impeccable story in the visual medium.
The series will be directed by Sharath Kumar Jothi and with Soundarya as the creative director. She will also co-produce the series under her own banner May 6 entertainment. ' Puthu Vellam - Ponniyin Selvan Season 1 is expected to be primarily made in Tamil and will be translated to other languages.
