Vetrimaaran's 'Viduthalai 1' produced by R.S. Infotainment released worldwide in theaters last Friday to unanimous critical acclaim and took a very good opening at the box office as well. It has been reported that the film has collected Rs.14 crores in Tamil Nadu alone and Rs.23 crores worldwide in three days making it a super hit already.
Already the team has promised that ninety percent of 'Viduthalai 2' has already been shot with only ten days balance which will be wrapped up in the month of May. The sequel will be out in June or July this year.
Comedy actor Soori has played the main lead as the innocent constable Kumaresan in 'Viduthalai 1' that has music by Ilayaraja. His performance has been lauded by both critics and fans and he has won millions of hearts for his life risking action sequences in the film as well. At this juncture fans were shocked when it was widely reported on social media that Vetrimaaran and Elred Kumar paid Soori only rupees thirty lakhs for both the films. It is speculated that Soori accepted the remuneration since he considered acting as a hero in the prestigious film an honor.
However sources close to the 'Viduthalai' team have rubbished the rumours and have made it clear that Soori has recieved a handsome salary for both parts of the film. The sequel also starring Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre, Chethan, Gautham Menon and Rajiv Menon is now one of the most anticipated films of the year after the thunderous response for the first part.
