Suriya and Sudha Kongara's pathbreaking movie 'Soorarai Pottru' has been entered in the competition for this year's Oscar Awards. Rajsekhar Pandian the CEO of 2D Entertainment and close friend of Suriya has updated the same officially.

Rajsekhar Pandian has written "Happy Republic Day! #SooraraiPottru joins OSCARS under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score & other categories! The film has been made available in the Academy Screening Room today". Accordingly, Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Sudha Kongara and G.V. Prakashkumar the main pillars of the film all have a chance of winning the most coveted film awards in the world which would be a fitting reward for their hard work.

'Soorarai Pottru' loosely based on the life and rise of aviator G.R. Gopinath was coproduced by Shikya Entertainment with a music score by G.V. Prakash Kumar. The stellar cast comprises of Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Urvashi, Kaali Venkat, Paresh Rawal and Mohan Babu. The film started streaming on Amazon Prime Video from November 12th and did not see a theatrical release due to the coronavirus pandemic but still received high critical acclaim and record viewership.
